Laurence Partridge Brode Laurence's mother died when he was three years old and he lived much of his life with his grandparents (Brode) in Buda and Urbana, Ill. and in Los Angeles, Calif. He spent one year with his uncle Howard in Walla Walla, Wash. and attended the academy associated with Whitman College. He later attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, Cal., receiving a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1912. After graduating he had charge of power plants for the So. Calif. Edison Co. He was a good student and a great reader from his youth. He was usually in good health. He died following an operation for a growth on the spinal cord. He married Oct. 28, 1913, Alice Strode of Champaign, Ill. |
