James R. Brode Born in Little Valley, Pa., he lived near there until 1890, then to Parsons, W. Va. part of a year then back to Coalmont. Raised on a farm but since the age of 17 have been following various trades and occupations -- woodwork, then sawing, sometimes mine work until 1896 -- started a lumber manufacturing plant with blacksmith and wheelwright stand combined. Followed that till 1914. Sold out and moved to Saxton -- in 1916 to Coalmont, superintending coal mines most of the time. |
